Salus
What we help with

When something has taken more than its share.

People come to Salus when alcohol, a substance or a behaviour has quietly grown until it is running the day. Often there is exhaustion, low mood or anxiety underneath it. We treat all of it, together, because that is how it arrived.

Alcohol and substances

Dependence on alcohol, medicines and drugs.

Dependence is a health condition, not a moral failing, and it responds to treatment. Our medical team manages withdrawal safely and comfortably, and the therapeutic programme addresses what the substance was doing for the person, so that it is no longer needed.

Alcohol

The most common reason people come to us, and one of the most treatable.

Prescription medicines

Sleeping tablets, painkillers and sedatives that started with a prescription.

Opioids

Heroin, morphine and related medicines, with medical support for withdrawal.

Methamphetamine

Including syabu and ice. Structured care built on the Matrix Model.

Cannabis

Daily use that has become hard to stop, often with anxiety alongside.

Cocaine and stimulants

Including ecstasy and ketamine.

Compulsive behaviours

Habits that have become something else.

Some of the hardest patterns involve no substance at all. Gambling, gaming and compulsive use of screens, sex or spending follow the same pathways in the brain and respond to the same kinds of care. Malaysia's own clinical guidelines on behavioural addiction were shaped by members of our advisory board.

Gambling

Online and in person, and the debt and secrecy that come with it.

Gaming

Play that has displaced sleep, study, work or relationships.

Internet and social media

Compulsive use that is affecting mood, sleep and daily life.

Sex and pornography

Treated with discretion and without judgement.

Shopping and spending

Compulsive buying and its financial consequences.

Work

When work has become the only way to feel alright.

What often comes with it

Mood, anxiety and the weight underneath.

Most guests are carrying more than one thing. Depression, anxiety, burnout, trauma and poor sleep are assessed on arrival and treated as part of the same plan. Our psychiatrists and psychologists work together so nothing is left for later.

Depression

Low mood, loss of interest and the tiredness that never lifts.

Anxiety

Worry, panic and the constant sense of being on edge.

Burnout

When work and responsibility have used up everything.

Trauma

Past experiences that keep returning, treated at a safe pace.

Sleep

Insomnia and disrupted sleep, often the first thing to repair.

Co-occurring conditions

Where a psychiatric condition and dependence exist together.

Many people are not certain what they are dealing with, only that something is wrong. A conversation with our team will help you understand what is happening and whether Salus is the right place. If it is not, we will say so and point you somewhere better.

One conversation is enough to start.
