    Adjunct Prof. Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam is an experienced addiction-specialised clinical psychologist with extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring psychological conditions. With both lived experience and decades of clinical practice, he is widely respected for his compassionate yet structured approach to recovery, grounded in scientific and evidence-based methodologies. He is known for pioneering integrated addiction treatment frameworks across the Asia-Pacific region, combining medical stabilisation, psychotherapy, family systems work, and long-term recovery planning. His work has contributed to advancing professional standards in addiction counselling and certification across the region.

    As Founder and Lead Advisor, Adjunct Prof. Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam has led the strategic and clinical development of Solace Asia into a multidisciplinary centre of excellence for addiction and behavioural health treatment. Under his leadership, the organisation has expanded across residential, outpatient, corporate EAP, and international collaborative models. He is the Founder of Solace Wellbeing Group and Salus, initiatives established to widen access to high-quality addiction treatment across different socioeconomic groups.
